Hello everyone, welcome to my progress thread.
I can only hope that throughout this thread I inspire others as they have inspired me. I have decided to only work on two things at the moment so I won't screw over my day job too badly.
Primary Focus:
I have (literally) just request 2 sample for products that I plan to customize and sell on Amazon/Ebay/Etsy. Hopefully my references have done me well and I won't get ripped off, but sample orders are pretty cheap regardless. I went ahead and ordered extra samples with one of the suppliers for an extra cost just to see if I could get the product to sell. I will have a week of time before the products get here so for now the focus will be switched to making the app.
First Big Question, Should I make the app free or sell it?
I already have the app planned out in my head, and I'm working on getting it on paper. This app shouldn't take me TOO long to make hopefully. I remember an old game I played in middle school and haven't seen anything like it being popular these days, but I know if I basically replace its contents with a certain thing kids and women find adorable they will eat it up. The app will be free (most likely). Kids and women of all ages can get addicted to it, and I plan to have a time restraint like candy crush has (you have to wait X hours before you get to play again). I'll follow-up this restraint with time you can buy from an in-game store, or maybe just a high priced premium version of the game so you could play all day. So parents either pay up or listen to their kids whine all day (Parents you probably just sneered at me, I am not sorry). Also, ads, because free.
Then again I could also just have it for sale, but the only benefit I can find from that is immediate compensation compared to the free version.
I was also thinking I could do a default version for sale, and then have custom skins (basically DLC for the game characters), but I don't know. I have a 2nd app idea so I was thinking maybe it's better to get my brand out there first. With feedback and seeing how detailed the first game is I'll adjust accordingly.
