I recently met someone in a lead-gen business. I met him in his brand new 100k car. Hes pretty young about 35. I want to let everyone know, he has no website, he has a crappy office, and a couple of employees. He is for sure making over 1mil per year right now.
I know many people hear about success in lead gen and think a "website" is the only reason. I want everyone to understand the website has nothing to do with it, it just is a way to scale your product and require less time to run it. One day when the internet disappears and their is another form of communication it will be the same exact thing, nothing different, a marketing tool, not magic.
Many people here are confused on internet businesses. It is used as a marketing tool to market your BUSINESS. Your website is not magic and does not just perform task like build customers out of thin air and build trust.
NOW this guy is building a web platform after this initial success and is about to scale through the roof. When i was there some guy walked in and bought 20k cash worth of leads, he says yeah that guy is nuts he comes in every week.
This was done through cold calling businesses, giving them free samples, and retaining the buyers of leads.
Now the sick part is he charges the same per lead as what the lead buyers charge for the initial job.
How? The buyers all upsell and keep the customer long term so its worth it.
This is a lead gen is a construction niche based business.
Long story short, if you want to start a business do not make "not having a website" an excuse. It is of coarse a valid excuse but you can still start your business without one. You will learn a lot about your business, your customers, then you will properly build your platform.
