The psychology has always interested me and I would like to discuss a particular topic here. Addictions. Addiction to video games, addiction to porn, addiction to forums, addiction to smoking, etc. Some addictions are good (like exercising) while others are very destructive.

Now I almost believe that addictions are a pathology. For instance if someone is addicted to gambling and cannot control himself, it means that he has form neurological pathways that keep him addicted. And these pathways reinforce everytime he's gambling.

For me it's eating out in restaurants and eating food in general. I CAN'T control myself. The moment I have some money I will try out a new restaurant, another one and another one. As a result not being able to buy more useful stuff. For many folks here it's being addicted to this forum. ( Not pointing out any one of you of course.) I am also addicted to sleep.

Even if you have all the willpower, it will not do it. I think that in order to cure an addiction you must have total abstinence otherwise you will reinforce the habit that hooked you.

Let's have your thoughts.
