I'm not a huge basketball fan, but my respect for Kobe Bryant is quite high. Not only is he one of the greatest basketball players of all time, but he built an empire around his name. I think we all at the Fastlane Forum can appreciate that.
As he's retired now, he wrote, a Letter To My 17 Year Old Self which he touches on family matters and how he handled money with his family versus how he wishes he handled money with them.
For those that don't know, Kobe and some of his family members are distant to each due to money issue. In the letter, Kobe addresses how he wishes he could have "INVESTED" in his families futures rather than handed them money.
Kobe goes on to say that he ended up "slowly eating away at their own dreams and ambitions. [He was] adding material things to their lives, but subtracting the most precious gifts of all: independence and growth."
Not every single one of us at the Fastlane forum are rich, nor will every single one of us become wealthy beyond believe(although I wish that upon all of you
,) but I do believe, wealthy or not, that we can take these wise words from Kobe and implement them in our own lives.
I could write a whole article on just his letter, but I suggest you read the letter for yourself and form your own opinions on this matter. It's worth it!
