Location, location, location. A real estate investor once told me these were the three most important rules of real estate.
Just came back from London a few days ago. Was visiting my uncle, who used to work for Canary Wharf, but now owns his own magazine. He used to live in Vancouver, and his opinion is that London is a better place for starting a business; because of the population, and it being a global city.
Now my personal opinion: with the internet today, it really doesn't matter where you start a business. Anything I put online can be viewed anywhere whether you're in, Toronto, New York, Jakarta, New Delhi.. It doesn't matter. But, this obviously only applies to internet businesses. But I feel like I don't need to pack up and take my whole operation to Silicon Valley.
What are your opinions on choosing a city for your business?
