Hello fellow fastlaners!
I am excited to find a forum like this. I stumbled across you guys after a chance encounter with a pretty pompous individual at a club in the UK. He insisted to the club management that he deserved our table because he was VIP and after berating me and my guests about how much money he had and how dumb I was for not knowing who he was, I decided it just wasnt worth getting into a fight over and left. Upon getting home I googled his name and a thread from this forum showed up. (It turns out this guy is a giant A--hole d-bag, and is world famous for it) but that chance encounter lead me to this forum.
I share a very simillar story to you MJ, my chance encounter was with a Ferrari though at 16, A 355 to be exact and I stood there listening to it as he drove off. Ever since then I was obssesed with owning one and have been a car fanatic. I am also a drop out of some pretty bad business ventures from Amway (stuck with it for 3 years making "direct dist." level) to hot dog carts and mobile car washes. Even after my later success my family and friends still think of me as the delusional MLM guy or the guy with the hare brained ideas
The one business that finally did work was related to cars, I dedicated my time to cars and doing the thing I loved so building that business was pretty fun for me. At 26 I had built a very succesful aftermarket car parts manufacturing company. This was about the height of the import tuner fad and it was very evident that it was going down hill really quickly. So when I got offers for my company, I sold out for about 1.2m. I thought that was all the money in the world and I spent it like a drunken sailor. A Porsche, a nice loft, a few really bad investments and of course taxes and that money was gone in a falsh.
Today I am basically starting from scratch again. I have started a new business with my last 20K. We have just celebrated our first year in business (last May) and even with the tough economy we were able to take home a 80K profit in the first year.
I want to take this comapny nation wide in the next 5 years and have a sales volume in the nine figures with in the next 10 (the business enjoys a 57% net profit margin) all based around the personal one-on-one service, and untouchable quality in, or anywhere close to, our price range. I know I have learned from my past mistakes and Im hoping finding others that have made different ones can help me to avoid future road bumps.
I look forward to being a great memeber of this community.
Thanks
