This forum is such a lifesaver. Ive learned a lot about ecommerce
From here, resources and tools I've found here, and people I've met here. I mean damn, if it wasn't for this forum I would've read MJs book and started a car wash chain or something. (still a good option, but there's better)
I've been learning about ecommerce and how niche research is seriously a freaking art. I'm just having so much trouble with it. It's like every niche is taken by some giant. I guess I have a hard time figuring how narrow or how broad my niche should really be..
I found a niche keyword Motocross Gear. It has great OCI an monthly searches. Only problem is the whole motocross gear thing is taken by 2 huge websites. I just don't know how narrow my niches need to really be. I could sell motocross equipment, or I could sell motocross helmets, or I could sell motocross helmet visors. I mean, I just don't know we're the "sweet spot" is. I could make cheapmotocrossgear.com and spend 2 years getting it to #1 or #2 on google, and maybe get 5-7k/month, or I could make several micro-niches that make less. I just don't know who goes to a website specifically for a helmet or a glove. (this motocross thing is all an example and not my real idea). I saw kidschairs.com and thought "who goes to a website just for kids chairs.. You can buy those in stores or go to a bigger website encompassing all children things" I don't know why it works, but apparently micro niches work.
What I'm saying here is I just have trouble finding how big or how small of a micro niche I should try to find. It really is an art and you have to get a feel for it I guess. I'm just stuck. This was all typed on my phone so I'm not sure if I'm rambling or not since I can only see 2 sentences at a time. I'm struggling a bit and having trouble, but if people like snowbank and biophase and many others can do this, then there's no reason I can't. Hey, it's always good to fail early, and with a community like this I think I'll be able to get somewhere
