Hi everyone,
I noticed something on this forum and amongst all the readers of The Millionaire Fastlane book. When it comes to website development of a fastlane business, people often wonder whether to learn programming and start from the ground up OR outsource this job. There are pros and cons to both but I want to know how MJ wants it to be interpreted to his audience. In his book he says we should learn and educate ourselves. True education starts after HS/College. He learned to code his website from the ground up. Also, when you learn, you go along with the commandment of CONTROL. You have control of everything going on in your business and don't have to depend on anyone else. It could also go along with the commandment of ENTRY because not everyone can code/program a website.
On the other hand, if you chose to learn and teach yourself code/programming, it could take years and is a very long and complicated process to master because it's constantly changing and evolving. This VIOLATES the commandment of TIME. I've read of programmers who've been in that field for at least 10 years say they haven't learned everything and it can be very time consuming to keep up with. Here is an expert from one forum member's interpretation of MJ's book 'Sometimes you need to leave things up to the experts. Even in the book MJ says if it takes you 10 hours to handle what could have been done in 2 hours, then did you really benefit. I tried to teach myself coding and web design but my eyes glazed over and rolled to the back of my head.' Others interpret his book as saying we should learn it and do it ourselves.
I have seen these kinds of questions and debates through out the forum. I would love to settle it once and for all in this post. I wish to ask everyone's opinion on their interpretation and also have MJ DeMarco post his.
I ask because I believe it should be cleared up for everyone. Especially for people like me who plan on building a huge dynamic website (such as Facebook, Twitter…etc.) that would eventually get away from using an open source CMS platform as it becomes bigger. (I am not technically savvy but I assume that the popular, dynamic websites with a large following evolve into having/programming their own platform with a team of experts. If I am wrong feel free to correct me.)
Thanks guys,
Jewels
