For the last six months to a year I've had little to no responsibilities. I've been able to do whatever I want, whenever I want.. which you could equate to retirement.
And it's boring.
Let me give you an overview of my typical week before I moved:
Monday - Go skating with friends
Tuesday - Go shopping and hanging out with some family members
Wednesday - Go to a movie with friends
Thursday - Go bike riding with friends
-Friday - Get a hair cut
All stupidity.
I need a schedule. A lot of people on this forum talk about waking up without an alarm clock... I thrive with an alarm clock.
I love schedules. I love having to wake up at 7:00am every day no matter the weather. I love eating at the same time everyday.
I view money, not only as a means to an end, but also as a game. Rather than video games, my game of choice is wealth accumulation.
However I don't want to work 80+ hours a week for the next 30-50years. I want to build up a significant amount of money by the time I'm 30, and then spend 20-40 hours a week investing passively into venture capital, real estate or similar investments in perpetuity (while using the rest of my free time to spend with friends, family, and volunteering) until I die.
There is no purpose to this post and I imagine my views will change somewhat in the future.
Michael Douglas as Gordon Gekko summed it up perfectly. "It's not about the money - It's about the game."
