Good day everyone
This is going to be my online diary of what I'm doing to make money as I go along.
Firstly, excuse my English, as it is not my first language, but I'll try.
I read Mj's book when I was about 20, and was deeply inspired, and came to the Forum and read regularly, and told myself, someday I'll start a business, someday I'll be part of the fastlane. It will come to me, I just have to wait.
Guess what, I'm almost 23 and it never came.
I decided it is time to just get up and do something, start taking action.
So, in January of 2014, I decided I'm going to try what the "Hustling" threads preaches. Start flipping products.
With about $90 (converted from South African Rand), I hustled my way to about $3000 in two and a half months (10'th of March 2014), concentrating mostly on electronics like Ipads, PSP's, Playstation 3's and Xbox'es. (and South Africa is not necessarily known for it's safety)
At the beginning of March, I was getting kind of getting restless, knowing that this is not as scalable as what I'm looking for.
I did some research, and decided I want to import from china. It looks like the best next step.
I kept my eyes open for gaps in the market, needs I could satisfy, and spotted one quite easily. (with the knowledge I gained from Hustling)
So I started looking for suppliers on Alibaba, and narrowed it to two Manufacturers. We negotiated for two days, and samples to be shipped to me.
I received my samples after six days, and it was even better than I expected. (It pays to do proper research on these suppliers)
So I placed my order for a reasonable amount of product, and am expecting it soon.
In the mean time, I found only two other competitors in my country. One is very small, and doesn't seem to do any effort. The other competitor, they are a bit bigger, but from the looks of things, they don't have much business acumen. I called their sales department, and the guy answered just with "hallo?", and was not very helpful either. Their website is not in a great of shape either, but because they are about the only supplier of this product in South Africa, people have no choice but to buy from them.
I plan on going above and beyond on customer satisfaction, do things properly, and become the biggest supplier in three months (June 2014) and build a brand in this market.
But I spotted a bigger opportunity and gap in a market that is totally untapped. Spoke with a few people, and said they wish there existed something like that.
So I'm going to give the other business for my brother to run (and be a sleeping partner, only giving advice here and there), and then just concentrate on this other idea and grow it to maximum capacity, and then some.
Through all this busyness, I still do a few flips if I see a opportunity. One of the guys I bought a few stuff from came to me and asked if I could sell some bulk stuff for him (kind of on consignment). After this deal I'm going to be $5000 (give or take about $500) richer, he's going to be $3000 richer, and I already have someone that is interested in buying.
So yeah, In about three months I went from a dreamer to actually building some value.
I have no doubt that I will hit some obstacles, but nothing is going to stand in my way of becoming a Successful fastlaner in the near future.
Excuse me for the great wall of text.
Michael
