Hi, I'm new to the forum and just joined INSIDERS. I would like to get some feedback about my fastlane idea.
it's not 100% fastlane per se, as it's e-publishing and I'm not 100% in control of the channels of distribution. I'd like to build a publishing company focusing solely on ebooks - Kindle, Apple, Nook, etc. There would be associated web pages/video/podcast publishing to support the books and their content. Possibly even sell them from my own websites, as O'Reilly does. they also do webinars, etc, which I think would be great eventually, but not core.
This is for a non-fiction financial niche. I say "niche" but for a publisher, you can't be too niche or you'll be a very small company. I'm thinking more along the lines of Wiley and O'Reilly media, who are sort of "niche" but are also huge.
I will write some myself, outsource writing to others, and for yet other hire authors and pay them a royalty (for those that want a larger % than the big publishers, but don't want to do it all themselves).
My goal is to build the company, then sell. I'm writing a short business plan/goals and any feedback or thoughts would be appreciated.
