My Intro/Life and Aspirations of Success and Happiness.
Hello Fastlane Community!
I came across this site while searching Google. (I hope my intro. is not to long :$)
I am a young aspiring entrepreneur. You can call me Dan! I am 21 years old from Canada. A little about myself; my family always pushed schooling on me but still gave me the freedom to do as I pleased. Their moto was, you can do whatever you want as long as you get the grades + keeping in mind I am responsible for my own actions. From the sixth grade up until the last year of high school I always maintained honours grade levels.(Only until the last year?...yes, I will get to that.) I was always on the chubby side, and early in my high school years fell in love with going to the gym, bodybuilding became a passion of mine. I would wake up at 6am on weekends to hit the gym, and on school days go straight to the gym right after class.
The not so sunny days, I woke up with a little bit of back pain one day..ehh not so bad. Over the months it progressed, and progressed, and progressed. It had a huge impact on my life to the point where I was only making it to school 2 out of 5 days a week, but something deep inside me still managed to keep my grades up. I made it into one of the better universities in the area for accounting, all my hard working paying off. Yet after the first year I had I was not able to return. (Do I plan on going back? Most definitely.) I have a couple herniated discs, pinched nerves and a fractured disc... which might explain why I had times where I spent days in bed and couldn't walk.I tried all sorts of treatments, going somewhere now that does seem to be helping a considerable amount, although I still cooked breakfast this morning crouched in front of the stove. But thats enough of that, I'm not here for sympathy.
[Some of my experiences]
I've always had an entrepreneurial type mind set from as early as I can remember. I got my first xbox 360, it stopped working, i paid someone to fix it....I thought hmm...why don't i figure this out on my own? At the age of 14 I was fixing other peoples gaming consoles. At 15 I started doing computers as well. About the time the iPhone was hitting the market I was grateful enough that my parents bought me one. I taught myself to unlock and jailbreak it...yes wheels are still turning. Timid of ruining someones $700 phone, I asked a family member to let me experiment with theirs (worse case scenario, I ruin it, give them mine and I cut my losses.) After gaining confidence I added this to the other things I was doing. I think I was probably the one of the first people to post up an ad on kijiji/craigslist in my area for this type of service. (a ridiculously saturated niche today.)
I worked some time in a fast food joint, it was brutal and I hated it. I received a call "come pick up your uniform", got there and was told I had to work but needed black pants... I drove and hour home, and then an hour back to work, and proceeded to work a 1pm to 4am shift, and then an hour drive home. These were normal as this place I soon found out. Making burgers, cleaning floors and washrooms. I told myself I would never work a job like this ever again!
Yet despite my hatred, I still put in 100% of my effort, and quite often did more than what my "position" required.... because I've always had this mind set, If I Am Going To Do Something - I Am Going To Do It Well. (It just feels like a complete waste to half-a$$ something if you are going to be doing it)..whether it be school work, volunteering, or anything! I also spent some time in a big box hardware store. Both were good learning experiences.
After this I taught myself a new skill from scratch, and learnt it very well. Well enough I got myself a job (that had high competition) at a place I really wanted to work. I visited the place weekly, sometimes more, genuinely became friends with them, from time to time I'd ask if they needed help but no...literally a couple months passed by (of me doing this) and one day the managers were talking and they needed a hand for something the next day, and I jumped at the opportunity. It was helping to provide something for other ill peoples (those suffering from m.s., cancer, fibromyalgia.) It was also labour intensive (I enjoyed it, the cause not the labor, so it didn't really feel like work), but I eventually had to quick as my pain began to get the best of me. The last five years I've been dealing with the back pain, all day - everyday. (but it has also taught me a lot.)
[My Future]
So with the free time I've had in the past little while, I began to research what I could do to prevent myself from having to go to a 9-5 type job. (I am not hating on it, but it is not something I would want to do longterm in my life) Not interested in those b.s. make money fast schemes. I started looking at I.M. and affilate (as I've made websites when I was younger, and dabbled with adsense), and thought why should I advertise someone else business. (Unless I could create a business of my own around advertising for others?) [I want to build something sustainable that I can grow.] Then I shifted more towards Amazon and FBA. Why not source and sell products? Again I thought, but why not make and sell my own product? Something others can Use and Enjoy! Which is where I am today, but I would like to create a brand around it.
I do have something in mind, thought it over for a while and saw nothing like it. Just last week I saw two "companies" on Amazon pop up selling something similar (I've been checking regularly), but not quite as good imo. I've considered multiple different sales channels, but was thinking amazon might help me get the ball rolling, and bring in some initial revenue. (Maybe I should keep this for another thread though?)
I've been doing a lot of reading, if I'm driving audio-books, on my laptop I'll put a documentary on my tv. The first person to really change my thinking was Dan Pena. I then read the book "The Secret". And also some of Tony Roberts, Tai Lopez, and Dan Lok's stuff. And continue to do so. I hated reading all my life, but I think I finally found a genre I actually Enjoy! I try to partition my time into listening to figures like these, learning the technicals of business, as well as figuring out how to actually implement what I am listening to and learning.
Aside from that, I plan to explore the wealth of knowledge on this site. I may also pick up a copy of the Freedom Fast Lane. AND I look forward to getting to know others in this community! (=
