For the last few months of exploring Craigslist, I have been trying to figure out exactly what sells FAST in this marketplace. I have only been able to come to a few conclusions.
After I heard that Craigslist Ad Tracker no longer works (because it requires you paste HTML code into Craigslist listing, which Craigslist has banned most HTML code), I tried to figure out a different way.
I figured out if that if I copied and pasted other peoples ads to see how many responses I got, I could figure out if that market was a good seller or not. So I did it, and found out that I got a few responses to only certain items. Unfortunately, I also got a few calls from people telling me to take down the ads, and one lady was so serious about it she was going to call the police on me if I didn't take down my ads. So I took down my ads, and now I have to resort to something else to figure out if something sells or not. So now, I have no way of knowing whether an item will sell or not, other than what items people say will sell or not.
I did learn a few things from doing that though. I have figured out that Craigslist is a pretty fast sell for bikes, large appliances(washers, dryers, stoves) and furniture, because I got a lot of responses to items that I posted in those categories. This is after I posted a bunch of fake ads to see how many responses I got.
A couple of days later after I found out that most bikes in the bikes section were selling extremely fast, I bought a $10 Roadmaster bike at a garage sale, and I ended up selling it for $30.
Lawnmowers must be a good item to sell. I had 2 responses in the first couple days from the three lawnmower ads I posted.
The rest of the items I have tried getting responses to have gotten few to no responses at all.
I had no responses from the baby strollers, baby crib, baby items that I posted out of 12 or so baby items.
Most items that I post get no responses.
Here is a list of items I DID actually try selling but got no calls- an Eureka vacuum with tons of great features, a used floor lamp, a metal bird cage, a used air purifier, an old used home essentials fan.
