Hey everyone, I'd like to introduce myself. I'm not real sure how much information you guys would like about me, so if I leave anything out, ask away!
First and foremost, I joined this forum to meet and talk with like minded people. I want a mutually beneficial relationship with this community. As most of you already know (and know much more than me) growing a business is challenging and even more challenging growing it in the right direction.
My name is Devin Fowler, I'm 23 years old. I'm from Raleigh, NC and have lived here since 2003. I come from a military family so I have kind of lived everywhere. As of June, I am a self employed mobile mechanic.
Since I was young I wanted to run the show. I used to dream of starting my own car factory when I was a little kid. Every day I'd draw and design several vehicles. My grandma actually held onto all of them in a folder somewhere, there are hundreds. Eventually I started racing motocross and my dad agreed to pay and provide for me to continue racing as long as I took care of my motorcycles and equipment. I followed through and this is where I got started turning wrenches. By 17 I had my own mustang which I spent most of my time making it faster, whether that was just bolt on's, engine swaps, porting, bigger cams, stroking it, you name it I did it. I wanted to have the fastest car at my school. Once I graduated I really wasn't sure what direction to go. I dropped out of business school multiple times, it wasn't really interesting to me. (Looking back on it, I'm certain it would have helped to stick with it). I ended up getting into the automotive program there and graduating just about top of my class. I got hired by the power company halfway through college to work on their fleet and I even got invited to the white house to participate in the champions of change meeting. The particular topic that day was make it in america, which essentially was all about making our country self sustainable. I continued working for the power company for about 3 years until I read MJ's book. It took several months of course messing around with different business idea's before I found one that I believe has alot of potential and I'm already an "expert" in. I started a mobile auto and diesel repair and service company. This is where I am at now.
As of right now my goals are obviously to grow, expand, and become a leader in the industry. I operate on the basic principles of business of being honest and transparent. My number one goal is customer satisfaction. My short term goals for the business I am still breaking down.
Anyways, I apologize for rambling. I'm not the best speaker and you all would be very surprised what several hundred cans of brake clean and exhaust fumes will do to your brain haha. I've also attached a mugshot so you know whose behind the keys.
