After about 3 weeks of sleepless nights and stressful days, I have finally reached a conclusion to a painful chapter.
It is a liberating feeling to finally have a path that could absolutely work and not compromise any of my other plans, and it is something I love to do.
I currently run a business right now dealing with managing a flyer distribution team, but have found it is not worth the little money that is even given. So I am most likely going to sell the business and work on my new plans. With that business however, I gained hands on experience on sales, and have learned that I am not exactly a poor salesman.
I was researching for weeks and weeks about careers that pay 50k+ fairly quickly upon graduating college, and came up with an advertising sales rep, a pharmaceutical sales rep, and a commodities trader. But with the help of entrepreneur.com, I discovered freelance writing--more speficially copywriting. I love to write, sell, promote, and advertise and it just seems perfect.
So my plan is to start an advertising agency and eventually get into the real estate game with apartments. I am not living in la la land here; I know how difficult everything is going to be, but difficult proceedings are often the most rewarding.
I needed something that pays around $50,000 a year because my cost of living is fairly low, and I figure off that salary I could save about $15,000 a year for 3 years, ultimately leading to about $45,000 for seed money and copywriting has unlimited potential which is just the way I like it--I love the risks. It could also be a lot less money at first, but I will find a way to save. With that money, I would either look into investing in apartments or a multiplex, and then hopefully use some of the cash flow to buy a very nice billboard in a high traffic area. At the point of $45,000 ( fully aware this number could vary), I figure I will still be fairly young (25 years of age) and give or take a few years, the worst scenario possible would be about 27-28 years old which is still pretty young. The name of the game is before 35 isn't it? :smxF:
The place to start ultimately is education. I am going to the local library to educate myself on the art of advertising, marketing, and specifically copywriting. Next would be to get a college degree for networking and safety, and after that would be building the capital to start it. I currently have 3500 dollars, so there may not be a whole lot I can do with that.
Last, to finish off all my conquests, I have always wanted to own a hotel. Hopefully one day that could happen as it has been my dream to own one since I was 9 years old.
Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to post my plans and goals, as I am very excited that I feel absolutely certain about something, and know that I have what it takes to make it come true ( as in I know I can write, and would love to be an accountant, but I am terrible at math).
Lets see where this all takes me :coolgleamA:
