Hello fastlaners....
Well this is the first time I'm starting my own thread so please don't be harsh.
This is my situation......
I live with my family(auntie & her family) because my real parents cannot pay my fees.
I don't even know my dad's name.....because he died long ago.My Mum is a farmer and she is extremely hardworking because she useD to single handedly take care of my siblings and I before she got remarried AND SHE DOES.
I was whisked away from the countryside to the city after my drunkard father's death by my auntie. SHE catered for me in the best way she could.In Africa, after elementary school,you are promoted to junior high school.My auntie together with her family catered for me throughout high school and then my second year in college.
I'm very grateful to them.
Now here is the catch...to show my appreciation for paying my fees, I turned myself into a working machine around the house.I did everything from cooking for the whole family,cleaning,gardening,washing and any household work you can come up with. I introduced a financial system in the house where...every month, i drew budget for all expenses in the house based on priorities or urgency of the need.
Nothing was wasted as i started gardening around the house to reduce the cost of food. I studied the house patterns and fixed any potentials errors before they even noticed. I Was the handy man in the house.I FIXED electric problems and plumbing work and any other house problem u can think of. I introduced a system which forces the people in the house to be more conscious in electric consumption thereby reducing the electric bills.
I washed everything belonging to everybody including panties and brassieres of the women in the house.
In short, I run the house like a company.
Upon all this,my family isn't grateful.
Unless someone doesn't misplace something i will be accused of stealing it
Unless someone doesn't do something stupid with a gadget in the house i will be accused
I am not suppose to have friends both male and female
i am not suppose to go out of the house till i am sent.
i don't get even a 15minutes break for myself in the day time
the only place i could get time for myself is at school or in the night when everybody sleeps
I am not allowed to use a mobile phone.
I am told am stupid and idiotic at least 10 times a day by any one in the house for any small glitch in errands or any third party errors
27 professional maid servants have tried staying in the house before...the one that lasted long enough was a 42yrs old woman....she left after 3months.
In short only God can stay in the house peacefully.
I have been staying in this house since 2004 by then i was 11....
Now I'm 20yrs old...i have stayed in this situation for 9yrs.... not bad
My achievement despite my restrictions
1. I don't hate my family at all. I believe that is just their way of life.
2. I have learned to be happy by myself. I tell myself jokes all the time and laugh so hard sometimes i cry tears
3.In high school, i run a retail business by selling iPods and mp3s my colleagues with help of a friend.
I started this business so that i can get money to feed myself and buy clothes and finally a net book..my family's idea of taking care of a person is by paying school fees
4.I made enough money from my retail business in high school so i bought myself a net book in 2011
5.I taught myself programming languages(C,C++,JAVA,PHP) and web developing through the internet
6.Started and failed 3 businesses
7.Repairs computers and software engineering
8.Always first in my class since time immemorial
My PROBLEM
I started college in September 2012
i started a cleaning business alongside.Business was profitable but i abandoned it HENCE IT FAILED
i started another business in 2013 February (an essay writing service) abandoned the business
I failed in the above business because i have a disease called LOW SELF ESTEEM. Because of that i don't believe in myself and therefore my ability to give products and services. I developed this low self esteem after 9yrs of constantly being told that I'm stupid.I have read a no. of books on the subject but self esteem like football cannot be learn't on the internet or through a book. I must get out there and start meeting people and start practicing what i read. Just like a drunkard cannot stop drinking by staying in a drinking bar or even around it.... IF I'M SERIOUS ABOUT GETTING MY SELF ESTEEM BACK,I MUST LEAVE THE HOUSE AND DO IT SOON OTHERWISE I WILL JUST BE JOKING.
How low self esteem screwed me up
1.I cant say no to anything
2.I do things for free instead of charging for a fee
3.I have become shy of girls and therefore i get friendzoned easily
4.It is the cause of my startup failures because whenever i get to the marketing phase of the business,I abandon it
5.It make people take advantage of me and manipulate me.
leaving the house means my family will stop paying my fees therefore leaving means quitting college. i CAN PAY MY FEES IF I BECOME SERIOUS.i NEED MY SELF ESTEEM BACK AND FAST. I must make my business profitable (5k/month) by January 2014 so that i can take my kid brother to high school
I intend to hang around college and attend lectures for free. The only difference is that i will not be getting a degree
i intend to cure my self esteem now and never later because i will need it for my fastlane dreams.
No matter what you do for a person,if you strip him of his self esteem,its like buying a plane ticket for someone who is afraid of height
SO FASTLANERS.......IS THIS A GOOD DECISION?
