This is an update about my internet endeavors. Continuation of "My Website is Live". I didn't want this info going out on RSS feed so I posted here, under the radar. Here is the link to the original thread if you need it.

We are up to about 250 unique users a day. We average over 3500 hits a day. I changed the format over to a WP template I finally found. It allows pics, vids, and has RSS feeds.
I have hired 2 sales people on 50/50 commission to sell ads. We are learning how to work with each other, not as simple asI had envisioned. This is totally due to me not knowing sales.
I have hired 2 contract writers for op/ed pieces to provide more fresh content. I get inquiries daily from more people wanting to write for me.
We have 3 major events over the next 3 weekends that we will be a part of for promotions.
The local print media ran an ad in their paper aimed at my business. They provided all of their circulation data and proclaimed that they had Johnson County covered. I posted a rebuttal on my site today.
We have decided to begin expansion into 11 neighboring counties. Some of the content will be shared from county to county since they are neighbors.
I have been contacted by sales people wanting to sell in the other counties whenever we are ready.
Overall, things are looking great. We are the future of news and info for North Texas.
We have about 30 other counties ready to launch in the next phase.
Our overhead is so low we can't lose, period.
Notes about the journey so far.
*This whole concept came about in a casual conversation one night with Yankees.
*About that same time, Yves and ATW mentioned the 30DC
*I worked with them and learned some about SEO and internet marketing.
*I learned about hiring work out. You have to be specific about what you want. Their timeline may or may not be your timeline.
*I had a real hard time understanding people don't just show up to see your great idea.
*I learned about overpaying for the same services- registering domains, hosting services
*I learned about WP and installing/modifying templates
*I learned about market/keyword research.
*I am learning about face to face sales and non internet marketing.
*Pictures, Videos, names, names, names
*Keep it lean and nimble.
*Keep your overhead low.
*We provide more value for less cost to the consumer.
