Naming Your Company

Ok so I have been trying to decide how to organize a brand of products and I don't know if I should position it as the whole thing or as each individual product.

Eg: App company that has a bunch of apps, and should they brand themselves as cool, hip company with a bunch of nice apps, or should they have their company in the background and not publicly connect their apps and have each app be its own brand.

From what I see now, these could be the pros and cons of each situation:

Network
Pros:

• Customers could be introduced to your other products that are related to the first product they buy.
• It would be easier to manage.

Cons:

• The broader your product selection, the harder it is to build a community of fans.

Single Product
Pros:

• Easier to create a community of fans

Cons:

• Time consuming to keep going.

Does anybody have any real life examples or Pros/Cons that I missed?
