A bit of background: I left University in 1996, stumbled into a startup that ate me for lunch and spat me out; then stumbled into my current job in around 1997. Survived three down-sizing rounds to end up being one of a team of two running a multi-million company (in revenue) with very little profit, that is now 100% owned by our actual supplier of IT services! It's a silly situation that is beginning to grate on me - I did an MSc. in Strategic Management, and realised from Porter's 5 Forces model that it's only a matter of time before they eat us for lunch too!
Read The Millionaire Fastlane . Didn't get it. Worked a couple of years more. Bought a second property to rent out. Made some investments. Thought I was at least in the slow lane, but probably in reality, still on the sidewalk.
Re-reading Fastlane, and beginning to 'get it'. Think by now I'm moving into the slow lane, and realising, at 50 years old, with 2 almost-grown-up kids that I've pretty much wasted the last 15 years by not actually moving in any perceivable direction.
Hopefully, with some help from the Forum, and paying attention to the book properly, this time, I can make that move into the Fastlane!
But, I have the same fears as I guess a lot of people do, and they sabotage me: imposter syndrome, fear of success and what it will bring in added complications, fear of what will happen if I have success and then lose it... usual scripted BS.
However, I *will* learn this time around; just got to have patience and give myself a stern talking-to each morning!
If anyone has a morning ritual that will help me - reach out : I'm going to need all the help I can get!
Off to catch my train home, and continue reading Fastlane!
