Hi, thanks for reading my post.
Right after i read MJ's book, I started working on a trade b2b website similar to alibaba that would help businesses in Morocco find potential partners all over the world. Unlike alibaba where all the countries network, this website is focused on all trading associated with Morocco.
Right now, i have completed database design and started on the user interface, the amount of programming involved is so overwhelming, sometimes i get discouraged and doubtful wheather this was a good idea or not! 1st because anyone can find an alibaba script for $699, 2nd because Morocco's exports and imports are negligeable compared with those of china, usa, india or most countries for that matter (the business model is a subscription based model who would only work if there were a significant number of users visiting the site regularly.); I sometimes say to myself, maybe i am better off if my strategy is worldwide like alibaba where any country can trade. I am little confused about this! Not to mention fraud and mistrust and complaints associated with fake suppliers and scam trade artists for this kind of business as well as the time it is taking to complete...
The need exists since all companies are looking for potential buyers and buyers are looking for great competitive diversified products. Maybe I would be better off if i change the website from a supplier/manufacturer website to a general companies hub where they could advertise their products (B2B and B2C) or maybe a site like ebay.
I am just a little guy, i don't have thousands to spend on this project, I am just a software engineer who knows how to develop dynamic websites and whose cheap marketing startegy is basically through facebook linkedin and SEO ... a simple guy whose dream is to ride on the fastlane road.
I am somewhat confused about the strategy to tackle since it is the building block for the development of the website and its functionality. Your advice and thoughts are very much appreciated.
Thanks
Marion
