Hello everyone,
I've been struggling with my mindset & motivation recently, and am looking for your opinions on the situation.
Situation:
Wife & I took jobs in South Korea (not teachers), for 3 years
No debt, no children (childfree couple), no financial obligations
Wife's position is good for her career, mine is not - which is fine b/c I am planning on starting real estate biz upon return
Partially took position b/c it allows us to save almost $250k (on top of retirement accts, monthly expenses, etc)
The plan was to save the money over 3 years, return to US and use it to begin my business
Savings is on track, so far so good
Wife is on board
Concerns:
Having read TMF and the Forum, every day I am not working directly on this future business feels like a waste.
Wife and I hate jobs - want to leave but not only would we forgo the savings, we would be hit with penalties in the +$20k range for leaving early.
Every day I read and absorb and study aspects of my future business, from the RE market, to exit strategies, tax avoidance, business structure, possible partnerships, networking, etc etc.
It feels like its not enough - with real estate, you need to be boots on the ground - can't do that from Korea.
Financially (and for a strong beginning to my future operations), it behooves me to just bite the bullet, stay here and ride it out.
What else can I do to stay motivated on something that wont truly begin for another 18 months or so? I feel like I have analysis paralysis, but not by my hesitation, but by my situation. I'm chomping at the bit and have no outlet.
Thanks for reading!
