I've got a bunch of other websites out there now earning small potatoes, and the other week I finally had an idea that I think can take off.
It is called My Mobile Orders.
I'm trying to figure out a) pricing b) marketing methodology c) keep it fastlane / self service. I don't want to be the feet on the ground marketing the service to businesses. I want the site to be a service provider and let others do that.
The concept is a mobile orders site for restaurants etc. Its geared to restaurant menus, but could be used for other things I suppose (any hierarchical ordering structure). I've built in a lot of cool features, but left out things like POS integration. I know more expensive offerings do POS links and whatnot, but I'm going for as simple as possible and low cost / volume.
I have some cool features like:
Trying to figure out what to price it at has been bothering me. I'm thinking something like $99/month or $149.95/month for the individual sale. For reseller pricing I don't know what would work, maybe something like:
Basic Reseller Plan - up to 10 mobile sites - $495/month
Gold Reseller Plan - up to 20 mobile sites - $795/month
The problem is I don't know what kind of load/volume these restaurants might do. What if the 100 guys on the Gold plan sell 20 restaurants who all do a huge amount of order volume. Now maybe $795/mo is too cheap. And I keep worrying how do I launch this thing so it doesn't collapse on itself if it happens to be extremely popular out of the gate (which would be awesome...perhaps unlikely but I really don't know).
I've looked at some of the other mobile site builders out there and the pricing is all over the map so it is hard to gauge what is "no brainer" pricing for this for a restaurant.
I am thinking that I will do more sales via resellers / local guys doing offline mobile marketing and not as many direct sales where the restaurant owner signs up. Maybe I am wrong on this. I see pizza shops and Chinese take out joints as the biggest market but not sure...
To keep it "fastlane" I think this has to be as self service as possible so all I have to do is administer the site/server(s), and have the affiliate program or reseller plan concept for scalable sales.
I was thinking of using the Kozuka landing page theme from themeforest for the main site/sales page:

So, if anybody has any thoughts or advice, suggestions for features or other suggestions, let me have it!

I have some cool features like:
- Multi currency support (pick your currency symbol)
- Time zone correction
- Multiple menus, menus can be available only certain times of day, certain days of week, or specific dates (so you can put in your breakfast menu only available until 10am, dinner menu after 4pm, special menu on Friday, special menu on Saturday, etc).
- Category/subcategory hierarchy
- Cross sells and up sells (would you like to get the 22oz porterhouse instead of the 16oz strip steak, do you want to add 5 grilled shrimp to your steak, etc.)
- Add-ons and other selections (how would you like your meat done, what kind of sauce do you want, etc)
- Analytics (spot for google analytics code, but also things like orders started but not completed, orders completed per day, avg order size in $, repeat customers, most profitable repeat customers, etc.)
- Visitors can save and name their orders, if they order the same thing all the time or have a few favorites, and in the future just click a button to order
