Hi there,
My name is Alfred and I'm 18 years old and for about 9 months now I've been documenting my journey to becoming a successful entrepreneur on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZObV0jhxshIK5Lnn7_eMBA).
My most recent business which I've documented, 'Admat' which is a placemat advertising business that makes it easy for my university and local businesses to communicate to students has sort of crashed and burned. The reason is because my university is essentially denying me permission to place any placemats on their trays (even though I communicated to them the benefits and they really liked the idea, they perhaps remain uncertain) so I'm now unable to operate my business.
Now, even though I've been on TFM for about 6 months now, I've only recently started to read the actual TFM book and one of the principles I've learned is to not start a business without first seeing if it abides by the CENTS rule. It's clear to me now that I lacked Control of my business as it depended on the permission of my university for me to execute it. Usually when I fail a business, I learn my lesson, dust myself off and continue to the next business idea.
However this time is different because I felt as if I really made a connection with my clients. Even though I'm sure they didn't expect much from me (plus, they didn't pay for my service -- I wanted to do a trial proving the idea would work before I even brought money up), it just sucks that that I couldn't deliver to these small local businesses.
Do you think I should apologize to them and move on or is there still some sort of way I can advertise my clients' businesses? I've considered social media but I can't do social media for each of my clients' businesses at the same time and also I honestly doubt that social media marketing works for businesses like your local sweet shop.
