I am only 84 pages into this book, and I highly recommend it to anybody who wants to understand the subconscious reasons why people act the way they do.
The success of the McDonalds brand is tied to what evolved in our brain chemistry tens of thousands of years ago. Back when we were hunter-gatherers and needed to travel up to 30 miles a day for food: A high sugar, high fat, high carb diet was necessary for survival. Those people who survived this time period (survival of the fittest) passed these genes down to their ancestors. This is why so many people today crave this type of food, even though it is no longer necessary for survival, and the in fact the complete opposite now.
Our underlying DNA does not evolve at the same rate as the world does with internet, technology, etc. so our brains make us act in ways based on these historical ways we used to live, and not rationally based on today's events.
