I figure rather than spend hours reading what other people are doing I should get in the game and participate myself!
I'm a newbie on here, read MJ's book and loved it! Got me thinking differently about looking for business opportunities.
A friend of mine just got engaged and while I don't coordinate weddings anymore (as of a month ago, feels weird) I am a wealth of knowledge and information on the subject! With her questions and my time, I realized there was a need for brides that I can fill!
So, here is my first update on my business venture:
TASKS:
That's my checklist so far! I started this idea on October 10th and I already have accomplished #1,3,4, & 13. I have parts done on the other goals but not enough to check them off.
I have a few different timelines...my first one is to get enough finished in time for the Portland Startup Weekend, which is November 16-18th. If my idea is one of the top 20 chosen, I will get free help starting up some of these things from like-minded entrepreneurs. If it isn't, I still have the opportunity to network and help others get their start.
Then my next goal is to have a website up and operating by January 1st, when the "wedding show" season starts. Rather than cold calling hundreds of potential clients, many will be gathered at different shows throughout Oregon in January. I intend to be at every single one.
That's all for now! I will update with more info as I get more done! Maybe I'll even start a blog on here (once I'm allowed to )
I would appreciate any advice!

So, here is my first update on my business venture:
TASKS:
- Write a 5-sentence & a 1-page description of Business (this is more for me than for anyone else)
- Map out a timeline for what needs to get done/when
- List of web pages needed
- List of search / sort features
- Wire Frames of web pages
- Homepage: How do clients interact with my website?
- Pricing Structure
- Estimate # of Vendors in my city (the Portland/Metro area)
- List my top 10 vendors I want as paying customers
- Write out the steps I need to take to get signups - how hard will this be? How much time do I need to schedule?
- Write out verbiage on what I'm going to say to engage potential sign ups
- Estimate how much time it will take to load the database
- Decide on a business name
