Just kidding, I don't have that many degrees. I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and I'm one year away from finishing up my Law degree.
I'm 25 (turning 26 soon), and I am currently working at a law firm. I used to program a lot, and I still do a bit for fun in my spare time. I used to work at an engineering firm where I would program some of their tools and that was actually quite a blast. The contrast between programming and working at the law firm is ridiculous, yes I get paid a good deal more... but the freedom and enjoyment is 9999x worse.
So in the middle of my summer here at this big downtown firm paying me thousands a week, I read the Fastlane when a friend lent me a copy. I realize that I need to get out of the slowlane, but my degrees and qualifications are making it hard. Especially when my parents are whining about how I have no idea what I want to do with my life and all my friends are saying how they're jealous of my stable "high" salary. It's really hard to deal with this.
I need to break free. I need you guys. I want to have 8-figure net-worth not because the money matters, but because it's an indication of value and freedom. I want to do something that can impact millions and not stuff the pockets of a few of the mildly rich. I want to create systems that can continually and autonomously provide value for people. And I want the freedom to travel wherever and whenever I need to go and help people.
I'm still working out the details, but I'm hoping that at least this post will mark one small step forward for me towards the fastlane.
