I'm currently reading Unscripted (just started it) and saw the forum note on the back cover and headed over - I've been looking to connect with like minded individuals, but the few I know in real life are still caught up in the cog machine, even if they are trying to run a business, and don't seem interested in connecting with others who aren't directly supporting their specific venture.
Anyhoo, my FTE was a slow burn after an event. Big event was a layoff after showing great loyalty, amazing connections and reviews, moving cross country to support them during a HQ move, to be dumped off when they didn't like my "bean count" (aka my cost line on their budget), then dividing my job between 5 - yes FIVE - other people. At first I still was focused on the traditional story, getting a career back on track. I knew I did not want to be just an employee, but wasn't sure where to go, either, so focused on what I knew - bills were piling up and income wasn't getting replaced. Eventually came across the MF CEO, started a power list the day I listened to that episode, that is when I started to visualize the life I really wanted, which led me to laying the groundwork to get a legitimate, scaleable, high income potential business going, got the llc and legal stuff done, and finally landed my first contract the end of last year, starting this year.
I still have a "day job" until I can scale the business, but even a few months in and it's life altering. Reducing my debt and monthly COL while allowing some spending money to actually enjoy the hard work I'm putting in. Working smarter not just hard, and focusing heavily on my self discipline, health, fitness, and keeping stress low. Thing is, even a hint of a taste of what could be has lit a fire even more to keep pushing and scaling.
Looking forward to finishing the book and then grab the others to read...in the meantime, will be poking around the forums and seeing what's out there.
