This was basically to MJ, but soon learned you can't send PMs to him Thoughts are appreciated....btw, my brief intro is tied in....and I am with a slowlane gf, who at the brief mention of me talking about the ideas in the book are like a headwind lolol.
Hey MJ...
New to this forum/process/everything. I got your book shortly after finding this forum. About 2/3 of the way done and I am so motivated/inspired by what you say. Everything you have said about getting nowhere in the Slowlane has been my thoughts pretty much spot on. I've learned a great deal of new thought processes/information as well. I have a question around what you say about jobs in the Slowlane. Just got out of college a few months ago (I took breaks to become a professional poker player), age 26. I just started working in Underwriting for Metlife Insurance. I notice you keep repeatedly saying "Quit your job," etc etc. Would you advocate someone to stay with their job until they figure out a plan on the side and get going, or just quit now and spend all day, every day learning new things and thinking of a business? This would all be from scratch, as I haven't really written any ideas down or have any. I noticed this is what a lot of guys have said on the forum that they are doing also (keeping job til business takes off). Would you just quit and find a part time job that pays for the gas, food, and apt and use all of spare time for thinking of business ideas? Would you just stay here and pay off all debts from a higher paying corporate job (compared to a part time gig)?
I really wanted to move to play poker outside of the country (govt in US shut down)...this is time consuming like a job, but could play part time and make way more than I do now. Plus have my own schedule like a few years ago, devote more time to business ideas for Fastlane, etc. I can't get enough of your thoughts on indentured time and how you trade 5 days for 2 free days...and then usually you are recouping your energy from working all week on those 2 free days. Just looking for some thoughts. Thanks again for writing the book. Can't wait to finish and begin my "new" life!
