Hi everybody,
my name is Antonio and I live in Rome Italy. I am 44 y.o. and I have been working for a Money Transfer Company for the last 13 years.
I felt something was changing inside me just before the spread of Covid in Feb 2019. Working remotely has accelerated my deep sense of dissatisfaction with my personal and career life. I started spending working hours reading books, listening to English podcasts to improve the language. I felt guilty because I knew I was spending my time and earning a salary with the minimum effort. Ironically last November I was even promoted as a Business development manager for Europe, so now I am travelling a lot. The fist 2 month I felt like a sudden rush of motivation and I started to work again, but after that excitement I fell now in the exact same situation. I cannot stand office policy, I cannot stand people pleasers and hypocrites anymore. I want to have more free time without feeling guilty to escape the 9 to 6 (yes in Italy is 9 to 6!!!) rat race. Finally one month ago I started reading the Millionaire Fastlane by chance (suggested in some Youtube video) and it confirmed what I was already thinking. This book has helped me to deal better with my sense of guilt and has given me the motivation i needed. I still have some fear but I know what is my way. Obviously I have just started thinking in a different way, so I completely lack of feasible business ideas, but at least I am starting to look around with a new awareness.
This forum for me will be lifesaver, because i really need to connect with like-minded people. Unfortunately Italy is not famous for being a country who promotes capitalism and free.market (mafia, politics, heavy bureaucracy) and people who surround me all belong to Slowlane path and are guided by fear and playing safe attitude. What the hell I will leave the country if needed but I don't want to live a life of regrets!!
