Hello everybody!
I am honored and grateful to be part of forum right now. @MJ DeMarco
As I have been in this forum for a few days now and consider this community as a family, I would like to share some insights into my life with you guys.
It took me over 21 years to realize that there is more to life than mediocrity. And that is because of the decision to read a non-fiction book for the first time in my life. Thanks to Tim Ferriss (4-Hour Workweek) I have experienced a mindset shift and this should be the beginning of a new chapter in my life.
I fell in love with the reading of physical books and audiobooks. I thought that the amount of knowledge I learn through books determines the amount of money I earn. It took me more than 2 years of zero results until I could no longer deny the facts: If I want results, I have to take action.
It has taken me a lot of effort to leave my comfort zone and do the things I am supposed to do. (Very) Often I was too scared to act. Many times I took action. I failed often. I had some small successes. I was proud of myself. Now I'm working every day on my goals and especially the days when I did something I was afraid of, after I did it, are the best days.
In 2018 I was reading the Millionaire Fastlane and Unscripted for the first time in my life without acting upon it. Now I'm reading the Millionaire Fastlane on purpose. I want to use the knowledge in MJ's books to create better lifes for myself and others, especially my loved ones.
While it frustrated me that I wanted to be an entrepreneur and making an impact on people, I thought "The Business must be a one-hit-wonder", and at the same time I had no idea what kind of business (according to CENTS) I could start that would interest me and serves many people.
At that point in time I got another great realization. If I don't know what I want to do, I have to try more things, and if you're walking in the fog, it is better to slowly follow the road to your goals in small steps than being paralysed of fear and do nothing.
That was 1-2 months ago. Now, how is my life today?
I'm studying engineering in cooperation with a compony for 1,5 years now (1/2 year working at the company, 1/2 at university) and get paid for it. For many years I'm passionate about fitness and karate, also doing #75HARD for a week now. Today is day 7. (thank you @Fox for your 75HARD post and this opportunity)
Having decent *theoretical* sales skills I'm sharpening them now in the real world. I have my first client and do cold calling for him to sell his online marketing product. I'm in negotiations with some real estate agents to work with them too, because I'm really excited to learn more about that area.
Because I cannot take calls in the late evening, last week I started to use this time to sell stuff on ebay. I am thinking about buying and reselling it in an area of my interest (a few years ago, I really was into videogames). I also use this as an opportunity to gain some experience in applying my sales techniques to print and customer communication.
So Far So Good... Last Point: Future Goals
Being a great entrepreneur, a great boss to my employees, to help my customers and give them a good time while earning a lot of money and be the best future husband and father that I could possibly be.
That's my story so far. I appreciate all of you taking your valueable time to read this introduction. I'm looking forward to communicate with you guys. Have a wonderful day!
Best greetings from Germany
