Goodmorning everyone!
I'm Tim and live in a small town in south-eastern Michigan, only about 20 minutes from Toledo, Ohio. I'm 20 years old and currently attending the University of Toledo as a business student. The last few semesters I was focusing on a mechanical engineering degree but I knew that once I graduated I wasn't going to be happy as an engineer. I'm a bit reserved around new people and usually only lurk the forums but decided to join the site after reading MJ's book. I was very pleased to read that I am not just day-dreaming about financial freedom and that many people have made it reality.
I have been reading multiple start-up and entrepreneur books such as "The Art of the Start" by Guy Kawasaki and enjoy learning. I do have plenty of questions and have been finding lots of great information in the forums, but I am interested to hear your opinions about majoring in entrepreneurship. My academic adviser told me that most of Toledo's entrepreneur students also double major in marketing or other areas that contribute to growing a business. Do you think an entrepreneur major is necessary for someone who is a beginner? (none of my family members have any business background) At the very least would it give me valuable knowledge help me in the long run?
I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read this and give some feedback. I am trying to learn as much as I can and keep my mind open, but picking college majors is frustrating at times. Especially when you hear that most people never end up using them. Thanks!
