I thought i would share something that happened to me with you all this week. I am still trying to figure this out but hopefully should be able to rationalize it somehow.
I have always seen people in 2 ways, those who go out and grab hold of life and what they want (all my friends on here) and those who are living passively living from one day to the next just waiting for the weekend to order pizza and watch x-factor.
One of my members of staff is a real rising star, she has been working for me for around 6 years and is nearly at the top of the tree from her own merit. I like to nurture talent and so took her for a bite to eat and gave her the road map of exactly what to do so that ultimately she could be very successful, make a pile of cash and also have a stake in the business. This might seem excessive, but she makes me a lot of money and you are only as good as your staff.
I thought that this was something really good for me as an employer to be doing, but she just said that even though all this opportunity is very appreciated, she doesnt want the stress or responsibility of being a business owner and would rather be an employee. I have probably got an exceptional employee for life, so its not all bad.
If I have been in this position all those years ago I would have grabbed it with both hands.
