PARKED
Hello everyone.
First off, a little about myself. I am a 17-year-old recent high school graduate and a future soldier. Already experiencing the "hurry up and wait" lifestyle that so many servicemen supposedly become accustomed to, I won't be shipping until at least the end of the year. This time has allowed me, among other things, to come across The Fastlane.
Ever since I could drive (granted, it hasn't been that long), I would always go out of the way to go through "the rich neighborhood," gaping at its massive riverfront houses. I didn't have any idea how I would ever get there, but those thoughts were secondary to sheer desire. My mind was infected by "the lifestyle." I would plan out what car I would drive, what my house would look like-- everything. I even taught myself CAD, just so I could visualize these dreams more vividly.
There was a problem, though. As the reality set in, that I had no idea how to even begin making enough money to turn that 3D rendering into reality, excitement dulled into interest. Motivation and potential receded into the back of my mind as I thought about the impossibility of it all. The only roads I had knowledge of involved long workdays or management-intensive "businesses." Furthermore, I knew I could pursue that all I wanted, but come no closer to my dreams.
Fast forwarding a few months, I had all but forgotten about the idea. Sure it was enticing, but my mind was at a deadlock, and I had finishing up school and a borderline-psychotic girlfriend to contend with. Once both of those were dealt with properly, though, I had plenty of free time to slow down and relax. I don't quite remember how I came across it, but the second I started reading Fastlane, I was hooked. I didn't put down my iPhone for one second until I finished it.
It all made perfect sense. I was ecstatic to finally read a money book based on logic, not popular opinion or marketing. I especially appreciate the unique opportunity that it has exposed to me, in the form of potentially becoming wealthy younger than most people will even finish college. I know I have a long way to go, and nothing is guaranteed, but--
I'm pretty damn confident. This is the mindset that will take me there.
I'm not too sure what I'll do going forward. Starting out this early puts me at a disadvantage in terms of knowledge and experience, I know, but also carries the distinct advantage of having nearly any road open for the taking. I suspect getting to know all of you will be a tremendous help throughout the whole experience, as I continue to learn and grow.
Thanks for reading!
