Me, Barbara my partner and two children moved from the Netherlands to inland Croatia for a rural life. We followed a long held dream. A vertical learning curve started. And we realize more and more, we had better done to create independent sources of income before the start. We did it anyway and are struggling financially but come through at the other end year by year. We want to do this much better. And share what we learn. What stuck with me is the remark in Fastlane about buying presents or great quality shoes. I am lacking there. And so here is a start to learn and get over that.
We enjoy receiving people from all over the world, among others especially volunteer chefs that want to see the route of ingredientes from nature & garden to table. We love this life. Make a lot of mistakes still. Get over them, think of something better and get up and go at it again. Language learning is a challenge because it is totally not related in any way to our native dutch language.
What we love is the pure sounds of nature, birds, mating calls of the roe deer, the pigs in the forest, rustling leaves, the occasional chainsaw and then sitting around the fire chatting and drinking a beer at the end of the day. We'd love to make it possible for the younger generation to be able to lead this life as well. For that we aim to learn to grow a business to be able to develop a community of like minded people that are willing to support this 'create a young farmer' aim. I feel a little isolated in this remote area. So this is also a reach out to a likeminded community. As a family we are doing pretty well. I would want to be able to provide better in general. Learn that and live this life to the fullest. And share what we learn on a level that we are concretely in the position to help others get on the bandwagon too.
