Time flys, it's been a year since I read TMF and joined the forum, and a lot of things have been changed except I still achieved nothing in Fastlane, lol.

The biggest change is that I have been taking parental leave since November last year(my daughter was born in July, and I was working as a software developer), which is unpaid but the government supports about $1,000 per month, it seems enough for living so far because we have some savings but raise a child really cost a lot of money(and energy), and I don't think $1,000 per month can cover rest of the months until October this year, it's the problem I am currently facing.

So some would ask why would I take the parental leave if I don't have enough money for living, and I would say I was planning to create my own business, I wanted to get started with website design freelance and build my own SaaS product(without any specific goal? how stupid).

What I have been doing for the past 4 months and did I make money?
The start was pretty good, I've got a website project from a friend of my friend in China in November, the project gets bigger and bigger and costs a lot more time than I expected, but I didn't raise the price. Anyway, I was supposed to be paid right after the Chinese new year but thanks to the coronavirus, companies are still not running properly in China.

At the same time, I was talking with my friend about a software, which can help him solve some problems in his job. We were meeting every weekend to design and develop the app and talked about how to monetize if he can prove the value of the app to his boss, but thanks to coronavirus, we haven't seen each other for a month(the situation here in South Korea is pretty bad since last month and my wife doesn't allow me to go out because we have a baby, we can't take the risk). I finished the MVP last month and sent it to my friend to test, but he told me that his company is busy recently, so still waiting for his feedback, but I feel like he is losing interests, a little bit disappointed but the only thing I can do is wait since I don't want to push him on this.

The last one is a web app that I always wanted to make, it allows people to share files between devices without installing any plugin or application. Since a lot of iPhone users are frustrated about sending files to the desktop, and there is still no easy way to do that, so I built one. If anyone interest, I can PM you the link.

These are what I have done for the past few months, and actually, I felt good during this time, I spent most of my free time in front of my computer and coding, but I just feel like something isn't right after I have done all of this, not because I didn't make money, but because I don't have a clear goal yet, I was thinking about making the second project into SaaS, but I have to admit that I am losing interest too since no feedback and response from my friend. I am afraid that all the works I have done so far will turn into what is called action faking in this forum.

To summarize, I have been quite busy but didn't make a penny.
This led me to look back and think about what I am doing and am I doing it right? the answer is I can't find an answer. I think it's because I don't have a strong goal, because of uncertainty. I become more and more confused, Indeed I want to be Fastlane, make a passive income system and spend more time with family, but on the other hand, I keep thinking about a job is not a bad thing(mostly because I have no income currently), I also enjoy programming and solve problems with coding. I think I am having a tough time mentally, I am not sure whether should I keep doing what I am doing or just go back to work, at least I can raise my child without worrying about the money if I go back.

But I will figure this out.
