Hi everyone.
I stumbled upon this forum about two weeks ago and I can't get enough. I ordered TMF Last Monday and I can't wait for it to arrive. I am currently going through a very exciting time in my life and I seem to have found this forum at just the right time.
I currently have a website in the design phase(outsourced), and expect it to be done in 8 - 12 weeks. I am starting to wish I had read TMF before starting the project, but I am confident in the premise of the site and I am stoked to have it completed so I can start with the next step of my plan.
This is not my first attempt to have a website made. I first tried a similar project around two years ago and it failed miserably (at least according to my expectations at the time). I will spare you of the details but concise it to say I never made any money with it.
That was then and this is now, and my motivation is completely different now. Back then all I wanted to do was make money. I thought if I just had a million dollars, everything else would fall into place... I just need to hit the lottery. Well, for whatever reason my motivation has recently undergone a paradigm shift. Now I am so excited to create value to others. I love the thrill of trying to unlock the psychology of what makes other people work. I am trying to decipher the human mind and the associated emotions that make people do what they do. If I successfully do this I will be in a position to provide them with a service that will improve their lives. Now I feel like if I hit the lottery it would be a hollow victory. Money for the sake of money seems backwards to me now. However, money as a means of measuring how successful I am at the above mentioned goal seems like a worthy way to judge if what I am doing is truly valuable.
Looking back on my first website attempt through this new light, I am able to see how successful I actually was. I learned so much through my failure. Back then I decided I would never try to make another website(mainly because I was devastated by my failure). In the last two years I have passed up countless ideas I have had running through my head because I thought there was too much risk pursuing them. Now that I feel my heart is in the right place I realized there is much greater risk IF I DO NOTHING. I risk living in mediocrity my entire life, never helping myself and never being in the position to help others.
It is actually quite risk free to try as many good ideas as I can because I realized I actually can't fail. Yeah, I can obviously loose money and possibly even more important things (e.g. time, friends), but I cannot completely fail. The reason is because I am learning SO much pursuing this project. Every time I try and fail(in the traditional sense) I will be wiser and that much more prepared to embark on my next journey.
I have been so positive lately I have kind of adopted the mantra "Opportunity abounds". That's it. I didn't say "opportunity abounds to the affluent" or "opportunity abounds only to those with enormous resources". The truth is opportunity presents itself to everyone everyday, all you need is a little vision, belief in yourself, and the willingness to work very very hard.
So here is what I would like to see happen with my membership to this awesome site. I am excited about bouncing ideas off like minded individuals, many of whom have been in my shoes at some point in their life. I am also looking forward to the networking aspect joining this community will bring. Lastly, I will try to provide help and guidance to others when I can contribute in a positive manor. I will admit, I am not very seasoned at a lot of this (I'm in my mid 20's) and I have way more to learn than I could ever hope to contribute, but I will try. When people are down in the dumps coming out of an epic failure, I will try to help them focus on what they learned. Likewise, when my projects don't go according to plans, please remind me of the same. Everyone finds themselves in the dumps, even if they know they learned something. Sometimes the only way to pick yourself back up is with the help of others who have been there.
Thanks to MJ in advance for creating this amazing forum/resource.
