Following the antiwork thread, I wonder if anyone is aware of the overemployed movement.
Not to be confused with overworked, essentially, it boils down to
Because let's face it, the option to "start a business" (or rather, succeed in business) is not in the books for most people. This seems like a solid alternative, especially for the dev nerds wanting to reach financial independence and can command a $150k salary three times over. But even Debbie, the graphic designer, can realize she's only doing 15 hours of actual work a week and double up on her $40k/yr salary.
EDIT: My experience with this. Once upon a time, I was working some pitiful $40k/yr marketing job. No raise after a year so I started exploring other options. Landed a $55k/yr marketing automation contract role but instead of quitting the first role, just did them both at the same time. Both companies were happy with the work I did and I was able to quickly & more aggressively invest in my websites until they surpassed the combined income. Plus got to learn a whole lot more than I knew to really amplify my own shit, access to advanced training, etc.
Not to be confused with overworked, essentially, it boils down to
- Explore only 100% remote roles.
- Treat all employment as ROWE or results-oriented work environment.
- Do what you're paid to do. No more, no less. Be entirely mediocre at work.
- Automate as much as possible to reduce the time needed doing what you're paid to do.
- Find a second, third, fourth, etc., job to fill the time you're saving.
- Make much more money.
- Don't talk about being overemployed.
