How do these password protected forums function? I mean, how do you secure a forum from being viewed by non-password or non-paying members?
For example:
You want to create a forum for giving advanced advise on credit ratings etc (I am thinking of giving an extra service in my existing finance business) and you only want to invite paying members ONLY. But how do you ensure they are paying customers and how do you ensure they do not see the threads on the forum or get a chance of answering those forum threads unless they are paying customers?
I know I have gotten this post into a complex web of words. Hopefully you will understand what I am asking.
Would this idea, for example, work in practice?:
I had an idea of putting up a site with a sales copy for the forum service. At the end of the sales copy the customer would click a Paypal button to pay for the membership cost. After payment they would recieve a mail with their specific login information (randomized choice of username and password) which they would then use on a login site. When login in they would then get full access to the forum.
The idea is to make it impossible to access the forum without first signing in at the login page (the login page would be a site with only a username and a password field to fill in and a submit button. Of course a somewhat nice design with the company logo).
How is this made, anyone who knows this? Is there anyone who do this kind of programming AND design? Anyone who may even want to quote me a price (help me out)? If yes, send a PM.
