I have an idea that I want to patent, but I just don't have the funds to file the patent. I have read that it is possible to present the idea to a company, and if they like it, they can invest in the idea. However, they would rake in most of the profit if the product is a hit. To me this is somewhat a slowlane approach, where I would only receive anywhere less than 1% to a max of 3% royalty depending of how many units is sold.
The idea that I have is a supplement product to Lojack's recovery system. Initially I want to file the patent myself and sell it to companies to the likes of Lojack. Though, as stated above, I just don't have the funds ($10-15K) to file the patent.
I just need some advice as to how I can proceed in doing this the fastlane way with minimal investment from me? Is it possible?
