Remember what @MJ DeMarco said about horsepower in the book?
How the decisions you've made up till this point have effected where you are currently at?

Well guess what... He's completely right. You did it to yourself.

The poor me mindset:
  • I have $40,000 in debt, not including my house...help.
  • I have twins on the way and no job... help
  • My car got repopped
These things have one thing in common.Your decision.

You took on credit cards and car loans.
You took your pants off.
You got a car you couldn't afford.

The universe, karma, or god, has a funny way of smacking you with the consequences of your choices.

Get a job. Sell all the stuff you don't need. Hustle Craigslist.
Got a skill? Sell it on Fiverr. Got a skill and a portfolio? Upwork.
You can hustle your way out of this. Don't turn down any opportunity to get yourself out of where you got yourself.

This is the fastlane forum so I'll leave you with this - These problems are slowlane and sidewalk problems.

You want a fast car that costs $100k? Expand your income to be able to afford it.
Want a big house? Expand your income so you don't get evicted.
Want to eat a 20oz steak twice a week? Start running and oh yeah, expand your income.
Want to spend time with your kids? Make money while you play with them.

INCOME SHOULD ALWAYS BE GREATER THAN OUTGO/LIABILITIES.
Passive income is what we aim for.

Do you really expect someone to make a 6-figure salary off Fiverr or Upwork? Because I've tried. I got paid $12 for two programming jobs. Just like other people advised here, "oh you have to start at a small fee".

You know what goes good with the victim mindset? Blame. Toss a sprinkle of blame in there and you're ready for the sidewalk.

Also, don't forget to put your destiny in the hands of others.

How exactly does one go about doing things their own way and yet still providing value for others? Because providing value yields money.

How exactly does one go about doing things their own way .

I don't think superstars like bill gates etc. made things their own way.
They just looked at the universal success principles in a particular way , a new point of view of availables principles , which we call " their own revolutionary way"

Edison said " success is 1 % inspiration and 99 % perspiration".
