While I will admit that the title of this thread is polemical, I think it raises a fundamental question.
I have read a lot of new member introduction posts over the past few days where people put all the words they have learned in self development books: they want to bring massive value to the world, they want to find a need, they want to create a company that makes x millions by y date, they want to become a better version of themselves etc... and yet, next thing, you find them posting on threads like should I drop out of college, what is the crappiest job you have ever had or telling progress thread authors what they should or shouldn't do.
Now, didn't you just say that you wanted to create something that brings value to the world? didn't you just say that you wanted to be rich? I might be wrong but last time I checked, nobody got rich by answering this sort of questions on a forum, even if it is the best forum on the internet.
So, do you really want to be rich? do you really want to bring value to this world? Well then I have an action plan for you:
1- stop writing valueless posts on the forum. It won't make the world a better place but it will increase even more the value of the content of this forum.
2- This forum is a goldmine full of valuable information. If you want to create something and you don't have any idea how, then you can find everything you need here. And I am a living proof of it, when I joined this forum I had no idea that this was even possible, today I have a company which is making money for me even when I am traveling out of the country. So take one of your ideas, I am sure you have plenty and if you don't, there is an idea bucket area on this forum, pick one. Don't read about what progress thread you could copy you will waste your time. The implementation of your idea is much more important than the idea itself. Got one? Then go on to next step...
3- I can think of at least 5 different threads on this forum that explain step by step how to launch a new activity and turn it into a successful business. Use the search feature of the forum and find the method that you feel more confident with to start with. Each one of them have proved to work for some people so it can work for you. Focus on only ONE of these plans. All of them can work but if you start working on all of them then you won't get anywhere.
Think of your project as a wall you have to take down, your strategy is your hammer. If you start hammering here and there and back here again, then you won't do anything to the wall. Now keep hitting on the same spot again and again and after a while, the wall will start cracking, keep hitting again harder on the same spot and soon you will see some light through it. And if you keep hitting the same spot even longer, after a while, a big hole will appear and the entire wall will start to come down very quickly. It is exactly the same for your projects. But you know what? Unless you start hammering, your wall will not deconstruct itself.
4- Start now, not creating a website, not buying a domain name, not designing a logo. Start finding your first customer. You know what else? To find your first customer you don't need any money, just your idea and a reasonably rehearsed pitch. Once you have your first customer then you can invest this money in getting more coverage, maybe creating a website to reach more potential customers.
As a principle, if this is your first project, don't invest money from your savings in it. Make money first and re-invest in it. Why? Simply because it will teach you what works and what doesn't. If you don't have money to start with, then you will start from the very bottom of the ladder and this way you can't loose money you don't have. Whereas if you have some savings, you will invest them in what you think is a good solution or a shortcut to make you successful quicker but you don't have any knowledge or experience so it will most likely fail and you will loose your money.
5- Do you have your first customer? Not yet? so why are you reading this? Go out or pick up the phone and get your first customer. Do you want to find out what step you feel more comfortable with or do you want to be rich? If you do have your first customer, then celebrate and quickly go back to work. Find out how you got that customer on board, what you did well and what you could improve. Then repeat the process and get more customers.
When you get to point 5, you will be able to see by yourself what you next step has to be.
As I am not here to just point at what is wrong without giving solutions, don't hesitate to ask me if you have any question. If I can help I will do it.
BUT:
1- Don't make me waste my time, if you want help I will give you what I can but I won't do it for you.
2- I have some free time at the moment but this will not last long so my offer is time limited. First arrived first served.
I might not be your ideal millionaire mentor (although who knows? ) but I am more advanced than most of the newly registered people here and I am offering you free help, are you in a position to decline that?
I will keep posting on this thread if you think it can be beneficial.
And on your side, stop posting value-empty posts here. I will tell you a secret: the dollar amount you see in your rep bank is not real money You won't be able to do anything with it but if you start working on your projects today it may change your life for ever.
So:
Option 1: Keep reading and making excuses about why you shouldn't start right now or
Option 2: close this thread and start working NOW.
The choice is yours, as is your life. Make of it what you really want to.
