I decided to post this as a new thread instead of mucking up my already drawn-out progress thread. Since we are finally getting close to launch (and by close I mean like within 4 months or so) I've started focusing hard on any pre-launch types of marketing and buzz generation I can think of.
To date we have been building our social media presence and have also talked with industry bloggers etc. but I'm finding it difficult to come up with good strategies without having product to sell. What is the point of pitching to bloggers etc now before we launch? I can understand the benefit if we were setup to pre-sell but we're not there yet (and won't be until our photo-shoot is done). Pitching to bloggers isn't free as I'll have to send them a hoodie to have/review at no charge.
Events are another buzz generator and we'll be taking samples with us but again, without the ability for customers to go to our site and pre-order or buy, the buzz may fade by the time we launch. We do plan on collecting as many emails as possible during this time.
I'm wondering if we should simply continue our SM efforts (which seem to be well-received) and wait until we're ready to pre-sell before we really start hitting bloggers and other avenues.
