Hey,

I am still not even close to having an idea, or doing anything at all. So I thought I might as well
use the time for preparing myself. I will encounter typical situations most entrepreneurs will have to face. So I would like to prepare myself for that. Please answer my questions.

What are common challenges? (such as uncertainty, difficult customers etc?
What are valuable skills specifically for Entrepreneurship?
I have been told that the ability to think and act rationally in uncomfortable situations.
Somebody recommended to me to learn train and system thinking, because Entrepreneuers essentially lead a system when they lead a company where simple cause and effect thinking is ineffective because any internvention directly influences many other pieces of the puzzle.
Social Skills/Marketing myself/Communication skills/

Ideally I would like to have a full rounded picture of all aspects (marketing, dealing with customers, solving problems etc) and then train myself for it. I have time right now. I will
start reading and I am starting to get ideas.

Thank you,

Rammsteinfanboy

One thing that comes to mind is learning to handle failure. Be prepared to put in a lot of difficult daily hours, for months on end, and then find out what you've been working on doesn't provide as much value as you think. You'll be constantly questioning whether you need to pivot to another idea or accept failure and move onto something else. You can't let failure discourage you, just learn from it and move onto your next project.

So I thought I might as well
use the time for preparing myself.

Looking back at the time before I started, I was wondering similar things.

If I could have asked my future self, I would have told my past self to just start.

To start earlier.

To stop "preparing" and to just get some skin in the game.

All the reading, all my notes, all my theoretical learnings became irrelevant once I sat face to face with somebody who needed my help.

Business is simpler than one might think.

I listened to @Andy Black's call with @Almantas last night - AndyTalks with @Almantas about Making Plans and Making Progress

One section that stood out for me was (quoting from my head):

"How do you get people to refer you?"

  • Have manners
  • Show up on time
  • Do what you said you were gonna do. If things go south, be honest.
  • You are competent at what you do

What if you went out and helped somebody with something you could do today?

What if you grew what you knew?

You can learn all about marketing beforehand, but you'll only really learn once you do it.

Once you start, your market will show you the way.

When doing business, you don't get paid by a boss. You get paid by the market.

What if you got feedback from your market from day 1?

Hope this helps :)
