I Don't want google to find these posts, which is why I created a thread here instead of on a blog.
I decided 4 months ago I'd follow my passion: Marketing/Branding.
How?
I honestly didn't know. I knew I had to find something I can offer to clients that they NEEDED.
My initial (and selfish) plan was to charge for a $250/hour brainstorming session was a bust. Thanks to bold (yet directionless) actions, I have finally found a path.
My Plan:
I am going to offer SEO, Social Media Management, Content Marketing, and Video Production services for B2C businesses.
I don't particularly enjoy doing SEO, Social Media Management, or Content Marketing. However, I do understand it and can formulate a high-level strategy. I plan on training a team to take on tasks for me. I have $0 to invest so it will have to start with me. I can afford to hire a fulltime VA to assist once I get client #4.
Video is my 'clincher'. I believe deep down that Video is the ultimate selling machine, the ultimate trust engine, the ultimate form of media for a business to make use of. Sadly, most people are afraid to come out of their shell, so their version of 'video' is a powerpoint presentation with an instrumental in the background.
My hope is to use discounted video as a loss-leader to lock customers into a recurring marketing contract. I am not doing it in a dirty or deceitful way, I am adding real value.
Right now I think my prices are too low but I'm OK with making less while getting my market bearings.. It will still be at a net profit.
My Progress Thus Far:
I have spent the past week developing a price list and service offering. I just wrapped up an intro video for my website. I don't particularly love it... But I gave myself today as the deadline so it's done. I can't spend all my time perfecting one element.
Take a look at the video thus far and tell me what you think:

I already have a list of 50 prospects. I took a look through the yellow-pages, and the local newspaper. I made a list of every company that appeared in an ad. These people are already spending money. Outcome: 200+ leads in an excel spreadsheet. I categorized them by Ad size (bigger=bigger budget).
What's Next:
-Tomorrow I'm changing the theme of my website and uploading a pricing page.
-Monday I am going to spend all day cold-calling my leads. I'm starting with the local ones, I figure if I can't sell them through the phone I can always try and follow-up in person.
-Nights (when I can't cold-call) I will be working on some sort of updated demo-reel consisting of video work I've done for clients in the past.
-Nights (after the reel is complete) I will prospect to clients looking specifically for SEO,etc. via craigslist/job boards.
