Hey guys,
I've been here for a while participating on some posts and now decided to show my progress on my first startup. It has been under development for two years, yeah! I know, with that time maybe you are thinking I'm building a huge software. But no.
The idea came around two years ago but I started to develop it in the beggining of 2011. I had lot of features to implement, crazy stuff, etc. but with so much ideas I get lost. First, thought about the name, then designed the logo, created a Facebook page and a landing page. Then started to write code (I'm not a developer so I wrote it using CodeIgniter, a framework of php that I learnt while working on this project).
The thing is that I was not fully commited to the project, and dedicated little time to make significant progress. That's why I'm re-writing it and using a new name.
Basically it's about lead-generation for a field that is not well developed on the web and am sure I will have success with it. So right now, I learnt lot of things about lean startups, web development and stuff that is more clear now that I see the wrong things I did. Also I'm replicating the things that went very good, because we don't learn only by errors
I read about MVP (minimum viable product) and think that I could create a very basic system where the client publish a request (filling his contact info, etc.) and this lead is sent (via email) to the registered businesses on my database. The businesses can contact the client directly from email, so initially I don't have to code too much.
To clarify the workflow, it goes something like this: 1) Client publish request >> 2) Businesses see the request >> 3) Business fill a contact form from the web >> 4) Client receives an email from the business >> 5) Client gets in contact with the business. My website will be involved until the step 3.
The business model I'm thinking of is Suscription model for businesses to see the open requests.
What do you think of it guys? Should I work more on the development stuff or that MVP is good enough to test the market?
Best,
Tincho.
