Hey everyone, I wanted to create this thread for 2 reasons.
1. To ask a question and get answers
2. Because I think what I did in this post is something a lot of people also do, but shouldn't.
Over the past few weeks I've reached out to thousands of leads that I found manually on the internet. A lot of the people on this list are the exact types of qualified buyers that I'd like to sell to, but I feel like I made a massive mistake with this list.
I sent basically the exact same email to all of these people in a direct response marketing fashion with only 2 or 3 words personalized.
First of all, I didn't know that Gmail would penalize my account for sending a couple hundred cold e-mails per day.
Second of all, I feel like if I had taken, I don't know, 6 minutes per e-mail, as opposed to 6 seconds, personalizing each, and sending 50 e-mails per day as opposed to hundreds..
My open rates and response rates would've been much higher, and the email I was sending from wouldn't be sent to spam.
The part I'm beating myself up for though is - even though this campaign did well for me and I did get clients, I feel like I messed it up with this list of people who, what I'm selling is clearly important to them. I feel like by not personalizing and taking time with each person, I will never get the full benefits of this awesome list I built.
I also feel it's gotten harder to find those same types of people now that i've e-mailed everyone I can find in those locations (I know this is a limiting belief)
A couple of questions -
1. How do you guys go about properly working a lead list in a way that's time efficient but still personalized?
2. How would you guys go about using this list even though I've reached out to them basically in a spam fashion? (or should I just move on to a new one?) I also did the same type of copy and paste for follow-ups, which I also feel hasn't worked in my favor.
Thanks guys
-Mike
