Last year I've worked with a company for quite some time, and now it happens that I "discovered" a product that would perfectly complement that company offering.
I'm sure it would work as a backend for that company and I want to make a deal with that company.
I want to approach them and make a joint venture.
The problem is that, there isn't just one provider of this product I discovered, so I can't sign any exclusivity agreements, and if I disclose this information to the company, they can do it by themselves... but they won't do it if I don't disclose... it's not a direct association, it's a bit clever. They have to know "my plan" in order for it to work.
If I owned the company, I would, no doubt, introduce this product in the line, as a backend to grow the company.
But as an outsider, I'm trying to find a way to grow that company and get a share but without them cutting me out.
Isn't it risky just revealing the plan and asking for a % of the profits? They can do it themselves after that and I get zero for my effort and planning.
on the other hand... If I ask them for equity, I doubt they would go for it...
How would you do it? What is the best course of action?
