Question on filing a U.S. Patent

Hi,

I'm currently developing a new technology product which will revolutionize it's own industry. A buddy of mine that works in the CNC Machinery industry is helping me to turn my concept into a molded prototype.

This product will have no problem introducing itself to many of the bigger retail distribution channels such as Waltmart etc,.

Everything is still being precisely planned at this early development stage. I am still working to close few contracts with our OEM Manufacturers.

My question is, had anyone filed a U.S. Patent in the past? Feel free to throw in any helpful tips and and your own experience on dealing with patent pending process. Everyone's advise is greatly appreciated.

Hopefully this thread can be very helpful information to many our members that's looking to file a U.S. Patent in the future.
