Hello everybody !
Im a 24yo french CG Artist living as an expat in Hong Kong since 2 years, and working on an animated feature film. I love my job, the people Im working with, our project and the city where Im living, but Im getting tired of working 50h a week and to have only 7 days holiday per year, for a pay quite small, half used to pay my rent (rents are very expensive here in Hong Kong). I know thats not the life that I want. Even if coming here has been a formidable experience for me, and helped me to get a bit less introvert, there is too many thing I want to do in my life to stay stuck like that so many time in an office !
2 weeks ago I came back from a trip in Bali where spent a week with a local friend. That trip has been mind-opener for me ! By spending time there with local people, far from my daily routine, I realized that it would be a great place to take a new start. I loved the people, and I loved the place !
At the end of december, the contract of my current flat will expire and I will need to choose between leave my job and move to Bali to take a new start, or find another flat and stay stuck here for at least one more year.
I'm now spending all my free time reading, finding a way to build an income that I could have from anywhere to make me able to move there (because I dont have big savings), and thats how I arrived on this forum where I already learned a lot !
For now, my goal is to get freelance jobs and build a base of regular customers.
The cheap life in Bali would make me able to free lots of my time compared to the amount of hours Im working now, and would make me able to focus on other projects aside to find a way to keep growing my income.
