Starting this thread because I'm thinking that a lot of fastlane readers probably try to create websites in hoping to actually join the fastlane. So once the website is built, then what? The promotion and advertising of the site! One can have a great idea, but if it is not marketed properly, then it won't be a success. So let's all collective put our experiences together and help each other out in showing what marketing efforts are most effective! Some of the information may be basic to some but not to others, so let's prevent bashing on each other in this thread in terms of knowledge :eusa_naughty:
Anyways, from my experiences, the quickest way to gain traffic immediately is using Google Adwords. Put in the keywords, and boom..traffic. But if only it were so simple! The adwords market has gotten rather rough because man the keywords costs a fortunate now! My recommendation would be to use long-stringed keywords to really target the niche group you're trying to hit and to also cut down on your cost. You will be able to better adapt to how to develop your long stringed keywords as your website receives more traffic and sales because you will see what works and what doesn't with your advertising campaigns.
If one is into the dropship/wholesale business, while adwords is a good way to get traffic, there are tons of ecommerce websites now so the words can be come very competitive. Usually those companies that are already established have the money to shell out for the expensive keywords, so where does that lead the rest of us still trying to build up? Well some alternatives can be going onto deal websites! Deal websites are forums and sites such as slickdeals.net. But, here's a forewarning: don't go on the sites and just start promoting your website immediately! Take some time to build up a reputation as one of the members. You don't have to do anything crazy, but just respond to some post, maybe post some new threads of deals you've found. That way you won't look suspicious when you happen to throw in your own website (whether you say it's yours or not is up to you). If it's a good deal you're offering, those websites are bound to give you some very relevant traffic..and all for free
That's just to get started for now! What else do you guys do? All websites hope for that word of mouth deal that facebook got, but that's pretty tough to do! Eventually sure...but the luck of the draw isn't always in one's favor :smug2:
